1968 - 2018 50 Years of the Plymouth Roadrunner
The no frills mid-size car was aimed directly at American youth. Plymouth paid a large sum to Warner Bros for use of the Roadrunner cartoon, including Wile E Coyote for advertising. Not forgetting the 'Meep Meep' horn Plymouth had also developed especially for the model, costing thousands.
This was a low priced basic 383 V8 engine model (meaning less trim & cost than the GTX), UNLESS you opted for the 426 CID Hemi! It was quite a success selling 45,000 total Roadrunner models in 1968 alone.
